Warming up your Rental Home

Good tenants are becoming more selective with their rental homes. If you want the best tenants you should be wondering what it is they are looking for. As the cold winter months take a hold , the priority becomes warmth. Does your home offer insulation, and a heat source? Does it smell damp and are there any signs of mould?

By 2019 all rental homes will need to pass insulation standards set by the DBH Tenancy services. If you call Smart Energy they will assess your home with a free quote for insulation and any problem areas that may need a heat solution.

Ventilation systems - excellent at drying out the house over time, but does not provide heat - will need filter cleans

Heat Pumps - excellent heat source but make sure you research the size required and what area it will heat as it may not be a whole house solution - will need to clean filter

Insulation - immediate results in trapping in warmth and providing a settled interior atmosphere

Keep on top of Damp spots - check the roof for leaks/address any plumbing/drainage leaks.

Draught blocking - Heavy drapes that don't collect mould/double glazing/weather strips make a big difference

Don't create moisture with all the windows closed - ie clothes drying inside
